How to Update Your Stereo
If you have an IS300 with a factory stereo, you might not have too much time left before it eats your CD’s or just stops working all together. Do not fear, it is a car that takes very well to aftermarket stereo equipment.
Myth 1 – You need an adapter to get the head unit to work
This is only correct if you plan on utilizing your factory amplifier. If you get an aftermarket amp, which I highly recommend, you will not need anything and can even remove the factory amplifier.
Myth 2 – Rear speakers won’t work after head unit change
incorrect, but it requires some pretty serious wiring efforts but it is more difficult to use them without the factory amplifier, and you are better off replacing them.
