2003 Lexus IS300

Own The Dream

This is a way to follow my 20+ year project that is my original owner 2003, factory manual LSD full leather IS300. I purchased it new in December of 2003 and have had it ever since. It has been a great car and proving to be a classic of the JDM world.

Project Civilize

Project Civilize

This group of projects embodies some of the projects that I went through after living with a car that was uncomfortable, loud, rattly, and just embarrassing to take a date out in it. I decided to see what I can do to get the best of both worlds, fast, and comfortable and create the ultimate compact sports sedan.

R35 GTR Coils in an IS300

Because my wife is amazing, she got me a set of R35 Hitatchi GTR coils for the IS for my Birthday. I was beside myself to get such a cool gift and a green light to begin a new project!
This will go through the efforts that I took to get the r35 coils to fit, and work in an IS300 full utilizing sequential ignition.

Standalone in Piggyback Method

A unique aspect of modifying an IS300 is that the best method for stock functionality is to install a standalone to “piggyback” on the stock ECU. This allows for all factory functions to keep working but still have the tunability of a standalone.
In this section, we will look at what it takes to go standalone and maintain all factory functionality.

IS300 Helpful Items

A collection of random helpful files. Factory manuals, wiring diagrams, connector pinouts, all sorts of random stuff I have accumulated.

Custom Retrofit Headlights

Something I was always jealous of was the super cool projector headlights. After choking on the near $1,000 price tags, I decided it’s probably something I can take on myself.

Fuel Pump Problems

This is to outline how I solved my fueling issues. When the car would get warm, It would run unbelievably lean. I figured out it was due to the fuel overheating with a High Volume pump. Here’s how I fixed it, I can make one for you as well!

Trunk Torsion Bar Delete!

The trunk torsion bar started to rattle and just annoyed me on the design overall. After some research, I learned that you can in fact get rid of it. Here’s my experience and solution.

Going back to a single disk clutch

Twin disk just wasn’t for me. and the cost of making noise and being uncomfortable is outrageous! After some research, I had a custom single disk clutch built for the car from a local shop.
